John 3:16

For God so loved the world

that he gave his one and only  Son, that whoever believes in him

shall not perish but have eternal life.

A Christ Centered Life...

If our relationship begins and ends on Sunday, and does not carry over into the other days of the week or extend into the home, then nothing a youth minister or leader has to say will have any lasting effect.

Perhaps “Youth Ministry” is an inappropriate phrase to some extent, as we are all essentially one body in ministry – as Christians we are bound to others in faith, hope and love.  In the shared space of church, young people need to encounter the living Christ, who meets them not with a call into a fashion but with an invitation to follow.

If we get so caught up in catering to youth as separate and special rather than a part of the body, then Faith becomes a fashion, a particular, distinct period during which you are loyal to something before moving on to something else.

Being a disciple is a lot different than just going to church once or twice a week. Getting excited because the preacher moved you and the choir inspired you is nice, but that’s not spiritual growth.

It is not enough simply to say, “I’m on my way to heaven.” The issue is, are you becoming like the One who is taking you to heaven? That’s discipleship, and that’s what Christ wants from us.

Mark 5:36

Overhearing what they said,

Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

God has the last word...

Ephesians 2:

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
